We learned in this interview that Eli doesn't like coffee. We don't understand it, but we love him anyway. Read on! (and then check out his work here.)
How did you get involved with KCFW? I applied as an unofficial photographer in Spring 2014.
How many seasons have you shot, and (if applicable) why do you keep coming back?
This season will be my 3rd; 2nd as an official photographer. It's great to see how much talent there is in the area with the designers, models, HMUAs, photographers, etc. I really enjoy being a part of it.
Is fashion your primary photography interest, or does KCFW offer you a new outlet? I primarily shot landscape/cityscape in the past, but KCFW definitely tipped the scales.
What's one piece of equipment do you want to add to your photography collection? Only one?! I think my next purchase will be more lighting equipment.
Do you have any photographers that you look up to? Quite a few, and for different reasons. I appreciate most genres, and seeing photographers who can consistently put out amazing work is inspiring (and very humbling). It’s great to be able to talk with local photographers, and even internationally known photographers, and get help and feedback. It’s nice to know that most stay pretty grounded. I really enjoy the work of Brad Olsen, Alan Mura, Florian Seelmann, Kaunis Hetki, Pavel Novikov, and Hennadiy Kvasov…and a lot more.
What's the best home cooked meal we could offer you right now? My wife makes an awesome red Thai curry.
What is your Netflix recommendation? Firefly, Video Game High School, Psych, Top Gear (if you don’t already keep up with the new episodes), and Arrested Development.
What's your coffee order?
None. But if the coffee shop has some pastries I won’t turn those down.
