When Ngan Vuong of eNVe Designs was buying tickets to last season’s Fall/Winter 2015 show she had no idea that in the next coming season, she would be showing. Having heard of the show through “KC blogger friends” she was only wanting to be there watching the excitement.

“I was blown away by the level of artistry from each designer, as well as how the entire experience was presented so flawlessly,” Vuong said. "I knew that if I got the chance to show at KCFW it would be a huge milestone for me as a designer."

It wasn’t until then that she learned that KCFW accepted accessories designers into their shows that she decided to apply as a designer for the Spring/Summer 2016 shows.

“It ignited something within me,” Vuong said. “The thought of showing at fashion week was both exciting and truly terrifying, so I knew I owed it to myself to go for it.”

After going through the designer application process she was accepted and immediately got to work on her collection and hasn’t stopped working on her pieces since.

“I started in March, when I decided to apply,” Vuong said. “So about 5 months now.”

Making accessories is nothing new for Vuong, though. She started her jewelry brand, eNVe Designs, in 2008 after her first child was born. She was faced with the all too common problem that new mothers experience: going on with her career or taking time off to spend with her child. She chose the latter.

“I was at a natural cross-road in both my personal and professional life,” Vuong said. “It was probably the toughest decision I've ever had to make.”

But, it didn't stop her from working. Making jewelry came to her as a creative outlet but she soon learned that it could be a business plan, so she took the idea and ran with it.

“Very little did I anticipate the unexpected gift this jewelry venture would be,” Vuong said. “But it has helped me grow in so many aspects and has challenged me in ways I didn't know I needed.”

Vuong feels that her collection of accessories, which includes hand made necklaces, bracelets, earrings and rings, are “edgy, elegant and raw”. She takes inspiration from the gems that she incorporates into her bold designs.

“I only work with stones and materials that I am naturally drawn to because they evoke a certain creative energy within me” Vuong said.

When it comes to this showing at the Spring/Summer 2016 season, Vuong expresses excitement for her first fashion show, ever.

“Not only is this my first time showing at KCFW, it's my first time ever creating a runway collection, so this season is particularly memorable for me,” Vuong said.

She says she chose the KCFW runway to debute her pieces because
