Kaity Rathman, designer of the local line FabriKait, is no stranger to the KCFW stage, but she is hoping that her collection is her personal best this season. She feels that, thanks to participating in KCFW, she has become a stronger business woman and designer over the seasons, which will reflect in her designs.

“Each season I have participated, I have learned and grown so much as a designer, leader, and business woman,” Rathman said. “By coming back this season, I will be using all of those skills and tools to pull off another amazing show.”

This season will be her 4th show and she is working harder than ever before to create a truly special collection of contemporary ready-to-wear for women. Her collection will feature garments made from hand dyed, natural fabrics to create a look that is modern and clean with “a soft touch of bohemian”.

Rathman takes inspiration from both natural and man-made elements which creates an interesting juxtaposition in the garments that she designs.

“I’m heavily influenced by architecture, organics, color, and texture,” Rathman said.

Rathman’s passion for the Kansas City market is ultimately what keeps her coming back to KCFW even though she has shown in other cities like Omaha, Lincoln and New York City.

“Kansas City is a very fashion forward city where I have met some incredible people,” Rathman said. “I feel that Kansas City is amazing place to grow and get noticed!”

Come see FabriKate’s Spring/Summer 2016 collection at our Friday night show.
